DAY 184 GRAMMY CHASE: YEEEEAH BOWIEEEEE

David Bowie – 1984  – Album of the Year Nomination, losing to Lionel Richie’s “Can’t Slow Down.” Nevertheless, a nomination is a nomination and who better to lose to than a sensation like Lionel. However, one of the most popular cuts from David’s album, was the title track, “Let’s Dance,” which was sampled  years later by the “80’s Sampling Don,” Puff Daddy or better known now as Diddy. Diddy’s version titled “Been Around the World” was featured on his Grammy Award Winning Album, No Way Out – 1998 – Best Rap Album – Puff Daddy.

DAY 62 GRAMMY CHASE: NO WAY OUT

Day 62, asking myself what did I get myself into with this Grammy Chase, with the simple reply of “No way out!” If not this…then what?? In the words of Diddy, “I thought I told you that we won’t stop!!”

With a reputation for throwing some of the biggest, star-studded parties ever; setting trends in music and fashion; signing some of the best artists to ever step into the booth; to producing countless club bangers, anthems and chart-topping hit songs since the top of the 90’s, in classic “top of the class” style, Diddy claimed his first Grammy as an artist with his debut album, No Way Out. In 1998 we nabbed Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance by a Duo of Group with the song/video below:

From what I gather, the part where he falls off of the motorcycle was not staged but was actually a shoot-take they decided to keep, and man was he ever lucky, as he coulda been out of here…especially with no helmet.

A mighty and kind “Thank You” to everyone who tuned in to WBLK 93.7 on August 11. I had a ball entertaining you all from 7 – 9pm. I made some new fans, reconnected with old friends and had a very memorable evening in what was supposed to be a “live audition” for the Next Top Radio Personality, but the competition aspect really didn’t matter after the mic was on. I got really comfortable and just let it happen. So for everyone who is wondering what the outcome was or when it when be announced…I have NO CLUE. SOoooo…if you just happen to find out before I do…Holla!!!…LOL.
