DAY 19 GRAMMY CHASE: WAYNA

Day 19 of the Grammy Chase and I’m recovering from a late evening in the studio as we’re wrapping the last few details with the release. We’ve made the final cuts on the album after considering the opinions and input from our friends and associates from the GMA Listening Party about a month ago. 12 strong, lean songs that will go out into the world as my best foot forward in getting a higher level of recognition, like the songstress that I’m just discovering in my Grammy search by the name of Wayna.

Indie artist Wanya released an album called Higher Ground in 2008 with the song, “Lovin You (Music)” featuring Kokayi being nominated for Best Urban Alternative Performance. Wayna is a part of the many Cd Baby indie artists that are causing tsunami waves in the industry. I can’t say it enough, that when artists make music unique to their own perspective and soulful expression that it is very possible for them to be picked from obscurity and garner the respect and exposure they deserve.

Wayna Highlights for her Grammy Nominated song (Loving You featuring Kokayi)

Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Singles Chart, Peak #3
Billboard 100 Hot Singles Sales, Peak #12

She’s been compared to Lauryn Hill and the late great Minnie Ripperton and has even been given high praise from Stevie Wonder.
Another Indie artist for you all to become acquainted with. Unfortunately, I was “Tardy for the Party” in celebrating her accomplishment as this news was from last years Grammy show.
